J.R. Celski – Speed Skater
Celski back in training for Junior World Team
AIM-sponsored speedskater J.R. Celski, age 17, continues to regain his strength and improve on his technique following some time spent recovering from injuries. His focus now is to continue to increase his speed and prepare for a series of meets leading to the America Cup Finals in the spring of 2008.
There are six big meets on his schedule, and the results of five of them determine attendance at world level competitions. The meets are in Michigan, New York, Utah, and Ohio. J.R.'s goals for this year are to make the Junior World Team (travel to Italy) and to be a member of the World Cup team.
J.R. is training in southern California toward his ultimate goal of representing the United States in future Winter Olympics.
Dear AIM Family, September 2007
To start it off, I would like to say “Thank You AIM” for all of your tremendous support, and continued hope that you have given me for all of these years. I can’t believe it has been over four years now that I have been a part of the AIM family. I feel blessed in so many different ways as I look around and see all of the help I am getting from all of my family, friends, and sponsors.
This past year was one that I will cherish forever. I got a chance to live with my family again in Federal Way, Washington, which refreshed the memories I had when I lived at home before. I thought to myself when I moved home, “I might never get this opportunity to live with my family again, and so why not take it?” As soon as I moved home I got back in touch with my family and friends, and felt like I hadn’t even left in the first place. I started school in the beginning of September as a junior (most say this is the toughest year of high school) at Todd Beamer High School. I did not know what to expect as I transitioned into a school I had never gone to before. I was placed in the Puget Sound Business and Industry Academy because of my high hopes of being a future business leader. I found myself in classes like Accounting 1-2, Marketing 2, and Personal Finance 1-2, which all helped me gain a greater knowledge of the business aspect of life.
The previous year in school did not go well for me, as I missed many weeks due to national and international skating competitions, as well as letting other things get in the way of school. I really turned my grades around and got back on track this past year. I was elated at earning a 3.8 cumulative GPA for my junior year of high school. Things were finally returning to normal for me in my education, and I knew that this would help me out in the future.
Skating turned out to be a different story for me this past year. When I moved home to Federal Way in June 2006, I began practicing back at the Puget Sound Hockey Center and trained for American Cup 1. I found myself struggling to maintain speed and technique, and almost altogether lost the desire to skate. I hurt my back again before the competition and found my competition season over. I later thought to myself, “Maybe I don’t want to skate anymore.” This question stuck in my mind over part of the winter.
As the first semester ended in January I found myself wanting to move back to California. I didn’t know why this thought came up so fast, but it did and I’m really glad it happened. I told my Dad, and he was almost shocked at the fact that I wanted to move down there again. He talked to my Mom about it, and my Mom (being the tremendous supporter that she is) agreed to send me down. We decided to move back to Long Beach at the end of the school year, but this time my brother wouldn’t come with me. My Dad wanted to move with me and see me through my last year of high school and help me re-emerge as a competitive skater.
This is a huge sacrifice for my parents, and I really respect their decisions. I don’t know any parents besides mine who would take a temporary split just to see their son’s desires and his goals. I am so thankful that I have a supportive family. My brother Chris really wanted to move down with me again, as did I, but I have a feeling that it will happen sometime in the future. I continue to ask God every day for blessings on my family, especially my brother David as he makes his way into the Army. I am so thankful that I have so much support, and couldn’t be any more happy than I am right now.
I am currently taking several AIM products on a daily basis to help boost my all-around health. I take a total of three tablespoons of AIM BarleyLife® between the morning and night, which helps boost my immune system. This allows me to be healthy all the time, and not have to worry about cold flare-ups or any sickness. Of course, it also gives me energy and helps my body rid of lactic acid which builds up as my training intensity increases. I also take AIMega®, AIM Proancynol® 2000 and Cellsparc 360® with my meals. The newest addition to my regimen is Peak Endurance™ which I just started a month ago. I LOVE it. It is a tremendous boost of energy with very little sugar or fructose involved. I take this before practice so I am well nourished for the practice.
So far my Dad and I have been in California for several weeks, and absolutely love it. The only bad part about it is that my mom and two brothers live all the way in Washington, so we miss them dearly. I have started training full-time again, and am feeling strong already (which I didn’t expect so soon). I also feel healthier than ever which I can attribute to the increase of nutrition and activity.
I am very happy with my current situation, and feel refreshed and fully motivated to continue my Olympic Dream. I want to thank you again for all of your support. I hope all is well, and God bless you.
Sincerely,
